Best Cleveland Senior Photo Locations: 12 Spots That Actually Feel Like You
When you’re planning senior photos in Cleveland, you’ve got options. A lot of them. And honestly? That can be overwhelming.
At our studio, everything we do is fully custom. We believe your senior session should be built around you – your interests, your personality, not some pre-planned set of headshots at a generic park.
Let’s be honest. It’s not that hard to get a headshot done. But everybody knows if you’re not having a good time, it’s going to show up on your face. That’s especially true for teenagers. Just ask your mom.
But here’s the thing: even with a custom approach, location matters. The right spot can make your session feel more like you and give us the backdrop that makes your images stand out.
So here are 12 Cleveland senior photo locations we love, organized by vibe. Pick the ones that feel most like you, or use them as inspiration to think about what kind of setting matches your personality.

Urban + Edgy Locations
1. Playhouse Square
The Vibe: Dramatic, theatrical, city energy
Best For: Theater kids, anyone who loves downtown Cleveland, editorial-style portraits
What Works: The iconic chandeliers, colorful murals, dramatic architecture, theater marquees
Timing Tip: Early morning or evening to avoid crowds. Weekdays are quieter.
We’ve photographed so many sessions here and it never gets old. The energy of Playhouse Square just works – whether you’re a theater kid or just someone who loves the city.
2. Ohio City (West 25th Street Area)
The Vibe: Industrial, modern, urban cool
Best For: Students who want an edgier, less traditional look
What Works: Brick buildings, murals, the West Side Market exterior, interesting textures
Timing Tip: This area is busy on weekends (especially Saturday mornings at the market), so plan accordingly
3. Terminal Tower / Public Square
The Vibe: Classic Cleveland, iconic, downtown sophistication
Best For: Polished, timeless portraits with recognizable Cleveland landmarks
What Works: The Terminal Tower as a backdrop, fountains, architecture, open plaza space
Timing Tip: Weekday evenings after work rush or weekend mornings

Nature + Greenery Locations
4. Cleveland Metroparks (Various Locations)
The Vibe: Natural, relaxed, outdoorsy
Best For: Students who love nature, hiking, or just want greenery without city backgrounds
What Works: Trails, wooded areas, streams, bridges. Each reservation has different feels.
Our Favorites: Huntington Reservation (beach + nature), Rocky River Reservation (waterfalls, trails), Brecksville Reservation (dramatic cliffs)
Timing Tip: Summer and fall obviously, but don’t sleep on winter if you’re into dramatic moody vibes. Bring bug spray in summer.
5. Wade Oval / Cleveland Museum of Art Grounds
The Vibe: Refined nature, cultural, sophisticated
Best For: Students who want greenery but also architectural elements
What Works: The lagoon, the CMA steps, sculpture gardens, tree-lined paths
Timing Tip: Avoid event days (check the CMA calendar). Early mornings are peaceful.
6. Rockefeller Park Greenhouse
The Vibe: Botanical, colorful, unique
Best For: Students who want something different – lots of color and texture
What Works: Tropical plants, seasonal displays, unique backdrops you can’t get anywhere else
Timing Tip: Check hours and seasonal displays. Some areas require permission for professional shoots.
7. Edgewater Park
The Vibe: Beachy, lakefront, golden hour magic
Best For: Relaxed, natural portraits with water and sunset potential
What Works: The beach, pier, skyline views, driftwood, natural light
Timing Tip: Golden hour is unbeatable here, but it gets crowded on nice summer evenings. Weekday sessions work best.

Unique + Themed Locations
8. Your School (Field, Court, Pool, Theater)
The Vibe: Personal, meaningful, athletic or academic pride
Best For: Athletes, theater kids, anyone with a strong connection to their school
What Works: Your actual jersey, court, field – the place where you spent four years
Timing Tip: You’ll need permission from your school. Plan this early.
This is one of my favorite things to do. If sports or theater or band is a huge part of your life, why not photograph you there? We’ve done pools, baseball diamonds, theaters – and every time, it’s the images the students love most because they’re so personal.
9. Downtown Cleveland Murals (Various)
The Vibe: Colorful, artistic, Instagram-worthy
Best For: Students who love art, color, or want bold backdrops
What Works: There are murals all over Cleveland (Ohio City, Detroit Shoreway, downtown) – we can plan around specific colors or themes
Timing Tip: Murals don’t care about time of day, but lighting does. We’ll plan around the sun direction.
10. Cleveland Arcade
The Vibe: Historic glamour, architectural beauty, timeless
Best For: Polished, elegant portraits with old-world Cleveland charm
What Works: The stunning architecture, natural light from the glass ceiling, multi-level balconies
Timing Tip: It’s a public space, so weekday mornings are quietest
11. Your Home or Backyard
The Vibe: Intimate, personal, relaxed
Best For: Students who want something truly unique to them, or families with beautiful outdoor spaces
What Works: Your actual life – your room, your porch, your pets, your space
Timing Tip: We’ll scout the light beforehand to plan the best time
We’ve done sessions with chickens, dogs, horses, gardens – all at students’ homes. If there’s something at your house that’s part of your story, let’s use it.
12. Studio Session (Our Studio or Rented Space)
The Vibe: Controlled, creative, anything-goes
Best For: Themed sessions, students who want dramatic lighting, weather backup plan
What Works: We control everything – lighting, backdrop, props, weather doesn’t matter
Timing Tip: No weather concerns, fully flexible
We’ve done Hogwarts themes, LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations, video game-inspired sessions – all in studio. If you have a wild idea that doesn’t translate to an outdoor location, this is the answer.

How We Actually Choose Locations
Here’s the truth: we don’t just pick pretty spots and hope they work for you. The process starts with getting to know you and your family.
We ask questions. We listen. We try to find out what really matters to you. And sometimes, the things you don’t expect to be “photo-worthy” end up being the most interesting.
Real Example: The Swim Team Session
We once had a senior with a strong connection to her swim team. We decided her location was the pool where she practiced, with her coaches there. We had her swim, we had her mom and both coaches throwing water behind her while we lit it just right. Everyone was dying laughing. Her mom said she was finally getting her aggression out. The final image looked like something straight out of a studio. That’s the kind of magic that happens when your location is meaningful to you and you’re actually having fun doing senior photos.

1. Weather and Timing Matter
We live in the Midwest. Cleveland weather is unpredictable.
Ideally, plan for summer before senior year or early fall of senior year. That gives us time to breathe, explore, and make the process slow-paced and fun. If you wait until spring, it can still work, but school deadlines are usually around February or March.
Winter shoots can totally be a vibe, but you have to either really love the cold or be down for an indoor session. Both are great, but they’ll narrow your location options.
2. Think About What You Love (Even if It Doesn’t Seem Photo-Related)
Whatever it is, if it brings you joy, we want to hear about it. Maybe it doesn’t make sense to you as a photo concept, but that’s our job to figure out.
We’ve done sessions based on Legos, art, Hogwarts, marine biology, recycling, cosplay – if it’s something you love, there’s a way to pull it into your session.
3. What You Wear Matters for Your Location
You can have the perfect location, but if what you’re wearing doesn’t work for the setting, it’s going to impact the final images.
That’s why we help you through this part. You get a full style guide from us, and we walk through outfit choices together. We want to make sure everything from your outfits to your locations feels cohesive and effortless.

Final Thoughts
Ultimately, this is about creating something that feels right for you. Something you’re proud of. Something that captures who you are right now.
Your senior photo session should be one of the most fun experiences of your year. It’s supposed to be a celebration of you.
