You did more than you know.
It’s my favorite time of year. Because of the holidays? The fireplace? The never-ending pie? Obviously… but mainly because those things hopefully allow us a moment to pause and reflect.
As a team, we share life in a wonderful way together. This week Gina and I sat by my fire and answered emails on laptops (because we were too sore to move after our wedding this weekend – it’s a full-contact sport 😂) and it was far more fun than tackling that alone in an office. Darcy and I laughed via video chat about how bizarre the wedding industry can be and how odd it must be to try to navigate it for the first time.
I genuinely like the people I get to share life with and the impact we get to make. Both by the actual service we provide but also the giving impact we make that’s only possible because you chose to support a small business that believes in the legacy of all people.
If you’ve been around for any length of time you know legacy matters to me personally. A number of years ago as a company, we decided that we loved the idea of caring about it as a small business. I remember where I was, getting so excited about all the possibilities of what could be. What if, I thought, while we photographed and preserved your legacy we also helped build someone else’s legacy? Together.
The idea is that you invest in your legacy through photography and cinematography. Preserving how you felt on your wedding and key moments in life is, and should be a priority.
But that investment is then multiplied to help others build their legacy too.
This year alone we’ve helped support recovery efforts for Hurricane Helene through Convoy of Hope. We worked with World Central Kitchen to bring people in the disaster area’s basic warm food. We helped supply teacher grants for Title 1 schools where kids are typically living below the poverty level and teachers need to be able to supply, at times, everything from books to basic snacks so kids can learn. We helped sponsor a foster child who was going to college and transitioning out of care with a full dorm setup. We supported journalism and a small business that focuses on disability awareness that was going through a catastrophic time. We supported our national parks and our library system because those are awesome. We partnered with a shelter for teens experiencing homelessness, worked with the American Immigration Council, and helped support a dog that needed an unexpected surgery. We gave to an organization getting basic needs and gifts to families over the holidays, to make sure that everyone, no matter their financial means can have special memories this time of year. In short, we did some good together.
I cannot thank you enough for being a part of making a difference like this every year – not to mention your trust and love. It means the world to be this time of year and always.
Below you’ll find a few behind-the-scenes moments from our main season this year and you can see some BTS video on Instagram. I’m so thankful to celebrate with our incredible couples and their families with such incredible people. Here is a small glimpse of the fun we have documenting your celebrations.
