First of all, I should say, thanks to these two, I now know where Okeechobee is. In my still feeling very ‘south Florida new’ (I should probably have a hashtag), I’m pretty sure I had a blank stare on my face when my bride told me where the venue was. West Palm Beach? I got that. Miami… awesome. Okeecho… um… where are we going?
My friends Lynn and Jared were all about the rustic vibe with their choice of venue at the OK Corral Gun Club in Okeechobee. She loved the idea of a very rustic style barn wedding, and the massive ranch / wedding venue / shooting club was perfect to bring her vision to life. The venue is beautiful and is really as rustic looking as you can get. Plus, (my favorite) they didn’t have any real horses. Don’t hate, people…I’m telling you, they try and eat me every time I see one. I literally checked the barns to see if there were live animals. Don’t judge.
Never have you met two people more excited about committing to each other for the rest of their lives, or more excited on their wedding day. Jared was literally dancing in place during his First Look waiting on his soon to be bride. Lynn had shared with me that they had an inside saying between them about meeting under a big tree and she asked me if it would be possible to have our First Look around that concept. Be still my heart…. love it.
One of my favorite things about their wedding was how they worked to incorporate her 12 year old son into so many parts of the wedding. First off, he is just a delight of a child. Like, I would happily steal him any day. He was just the sweetest kiddo and so excited for his mama. But it felt like he was just as much a part of the wedding day as they were and it was super special. I LOVED some of the more editorial photography shots we grabbed of him interacting with both of them. I found myself smiling while editing them more than once. My favorite moment was when mom surprised him with a mother son dance, only to throw on ‘The Nae Nae’ which he hates. She had warned me that he had made it clear if that happened he would leave the wedding because he hates the song so very much and will not dance to it. It came on, he rolls his eyes, laughs and then leaps into a full fledged rockin dance with his mom for the entire song. Gold star kid, seriously.
Lynn and Jared, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful day. Everyone else, enjoy.
