So this is my dear friend Melissa.
You may recognize her from the many times she has stepped in front of my camera… there was her first maternity shoot here, Russell’s newborn shoot here, her maternity/family shoot here… Ryan’s newborn shoot here… oh, and there are new family photos that will probably be making it up on the blog at some point very soon as well… because well…
If I had to give a reason of why there are so many pictures of her family, I would definitely point to her children. Have you seen them? Yes, they win. I have often told her it may be slightly unkind for her children to take all of the cuteness in the world. Perhaps they should have left some for the other children? I don’t know, not for me to judge.
Anyway, back to Melissa. You see, Melissa is one of those few, close, amazing, family kinda friends that make you feel more “at home” when you’re with her. Even though I’ve been in the great state of south Florida (you thought I was going to say Texas huh?? ;-)) for a while now, it’s never really felt like home to me. Maybe it will over time… maybe southern California will always feel like home, either way, having friends like Melissa helps bridge that gap in a really beautiful way.
She told me a while ago that she was going to start blogging, and shared her heart to reach out and inspire women to be who they are called to be. And certainly look amazing while they were being who they were called to be. You may recall, this is the friend that makes sure I don’t embarrass myself (or my poor brides) when I leave the house… she is solely responsible for my high heel collection. She wears them with jeans. Stop.
Thankfully, as a wedding photographer, I feel like the creative industry is pretty over all empowering. Between organizations like Rising Tide and other movements towards #communityovercompetition, I think we do a pretty good job of supporting and encouraging each other. But anytime someone says hey, let’s go ahead and encourage and empower each other, I’m all in behind that.
She blogs over at Chronicles of Tisha with a focus on Faith | Family | Fashion but she shares her heart and speaks her convictions and that makes reading every word worth while. Plus, she’ll help you find good shoes. Win/win.
Because we hang out, I get to do her portraits, and that’s kinda my favorite. Although we have a few more shoots planned (thanks to her amazing fashion sense), we haven’t been able to execute them (thanks to those small children she lives with). I am definitely looking forward to sharing more adventures with this one. But for now, I hope you love these images and imagine how much laughter went into them.
P.S. Go read her blog… it’s really great. https://chroniclesoftisha.wordpress.com/
