Goodwood Museum and Gardens

Historic Museum Garden Wedding Photo_0039.jpg

I often have couples ask what my very favorite type of wedding venues are. My answer is always the same, I love when couples choose to get married in a venue that reflects who they are as a couple.

I think that a couple can do incredibly well in a variety of venues as long as you adore the venue and it represents something about you or your story. The one thing I absolutely can’t stand is when I see a couple who chose a venue because it was: convenient, affordable, popular or anything else in that sort of category. Doing what everyone else is doing for a wedding is hardly ever a good idea. As a side note, there are always more options than you think as far as venue ideas go so don’t hesitate to reach out to your vendors and ask questions. We have crazy ideas. 😉

That said, if you actually want to know what MY very favorite type of wedding venues are, I will tell you either a museum or a historic estate. There is something incredibly beautiful to me about weddings held in museums. I love the idea of the art also representing something about their love story. Almost any museum will do. I’ve seen weddings in modern art museums, Fine Art Museums, even natural history museums! Nothing like getting married underneath the dinosaurs! I think the thing I love about it is that no matter what type of museum you’re getting married in, you’re connecting your small love story to a setting with a larger than life feel.

My equally favorite thing… is getting married in some type of Historic estate. I absolutely love anything and everything historic. I am completely fascinated by historic architecture and as we all know, I’m a bit of a hopeless romantic but I really think there’s something about winding something brand-new in with something so old that makes an incredibly beautiful picture.

IF you happen to be a bride who is getting married in a historic estate, I will give you absolute bonus points if it happens to be a historic estate WITH beautiful gardens. I’m really kind of a funny person, I absolutely love the outdoors and nature as long as it’s from a front porch drinking a cup of coffee. Or wandering around English looking gardens and imagining that I’m walking into the secret garden. Any other nerdy literary fans out there? I just am blown away when I see a landscape that people have worked on for years and years and made something absolutely stunning. I could lose myself for hours in that kind of environment.

All that said to say this event happened to be right up my alley. Goodwood Museum & Gardens is a historic wedding venue that is all three of my loves. A museum, historic estate and it just happens to be set on acres of incredible gardens. I cannot. Plus you throw in a gorgeous, madly in love couple, celebrating their story?? Yes, please.

These are the I-get-just-a-little-too-excited-for-being-with-the-general-public kinda wedding photographer moments. 😉

Enough with the words, on to the images. TONS of vendor love below. Enjoy.
