You know that phrase, ‘what makes a house a home’? Or ‘make this house a home’? Or whatever the phrase is?
This house has that. This home has it. Whatever it is.
I had the opportunity to fly up to Grand Rapids, Michigan to do this young man’s senior portraits. I love south Florida for sure, but traveling has never hurt my feelings and Michigan is just one of those states that is SO beautiful. If you’ve never been there, you should go visit. Have you ever seen the commercial for Pure Michigan?? Ya, marketing works folks. I usually cry at those commercials. #truestory
We had a ball running around Downtown Grand Rapids shooting those senior images and I can’t wait to show those off later. But today’s blog post is about family. It’s about these three kids and their parents. About a kind woman who took pity on a girl who apparently lives in West Palm Beach, Florida now and will never find a good peach again. About pie. Peach pie. From the fruit stand, baskets of peaches, kind of pie. Not from Florida peaches. About a home that has been there forever and about kids that are big now, parents that laugh at their jokes, drive them to practice and the family dog who panics when they go on vacation. That kind of home.
As we approach Christmas and the holiday season, we move into family portrait season in a full blown kind of way. I thought a post about family and remembering the important things might be in order. If you cannot tell from the above half paragraph regarding peach pie…it’s important. So are these people.
The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.
