Guys, this is another one of those confession blog posts. It would do us all well to remember that I’m not really a ‘blogger’ in the sense that I write eloquently or actually have something to talk about. I am a visual person and I ‘think’ visually for the most part. I blog simply because I love showing off beautiful images, bragging on the lovely people I get to photograph and it makes a lot more sense to write a little something so you have a glimpse into the images. But every once in a while…. sigh.
It’s fall. Guys, it’s fall. When I say ‘it’s fall’ perhaps I should explain what I mean. It’s fall somewhere else. I believe technically we share the same calendar here in south Florida that the rest of the country uses, but you would never know it. Have you seen the mall in West Palm Beach? Stores are filling up with boots and scarves. But why I ask you? Why do we care here??? It’s all a facade. Where I’m from in California, fall meant that certain fall smell. Leaves turning colors, apples, oh such beautiful apples! Fire places burning for the first time, the chill in the air. It’s family portrait season, bundled up families of all sizes with rosy cheeks and glossy eyes because it’s getting cold at night. Ah…. fall, folks fall.
Just when I feel like south Florida is feeling more like “home” fall hits. Clients are contacting me for their holiday portraits and we’re going to places like the beach. THE BEACH. Guys… this is just so odd. Fall family portraits should have color? Right?? The only color here is green. Pumpkin spiced everything just doesn’t feel right when I’m wearing a sundress, not boots and scarves… Anyone??? Anyone??
So this blog post has nothing to do with anything except to share my very very challenged heart on south Florida in the ‘fall’. Your beautiful state is just so messed up in this season.
These images are NOT from Florida… can you tell?? 🙂
