This child is cuter than your child. Was that my outside voice?? My apologies.
Allow me to begin again. Meet baby R. Some of you may remember his mama’s maternity session I blogged a while ago, as well as his newborn session. I do believe that this child just keeps getting cuter. This was baby R’s 6 month session and there are hardly words to describe it. I will attempt. It went like this.
“Who is your favorite Auntie??? Said in the highest pitched squeaky voice that makes little puppies turn their heads and look at you funny. I delusionally believe I’m this child’s aunt because I talked to him in his mother’s belly for 9 months. We’re bonded. He knows my voice. He loves me. Baby R stares at me, stares at the camera and then back at me again. Then he smiles and I tell his mama (one of the most amazing people on the planet, obviously have you see her son??) how much fun we’re going to have and how I have all these great shots we’re going to capture.
12 minutes later, baby R is officially done. That’s all you get. He apparently didn’t read the 6 month old children’s portraiture handbook?? Ya, either way, we fought with him for another good while, finally gave up and sat and chatted. His mother later called to tell me he’d slept for hours after I’d left. The struggle is real folks. No doubt here, baby R wins.
However, despite this 6 month old child’s apparent victory, he is still so unbelievably cute that I make those squealing noises when I get to hold him. That over all cuteness certainly helped carry our very brief 12 minute baby photo session. #iwin
The moral of this story is that when photographing children, they’re usually in charge. It’s nearly always on their schedules. And what I love about lifestyle photography is that the process of creating images with them is usually half the fun.
