The non-existent serious face.
If there is one thing that I learned with these girls, it’s that they have no ability to do ‘the serious’ face. None whatsoever. I would say, “ok, just relax your face for this one.” That simple statement had the power to create bouts of hysterical laughter. I do mean hysterical laughter. No serious face. That and spinning, it might be a photographer thing but when I see a field I just automatically think perhaps people should be spinning in it?? Just me?? Anyway, spinning was um, attempted. Valiant effort by all. But in the end I had to focus on other strengths because the serious face and the spinning in a field was not going to happen. Ever.
The highlight of our non-spinning, non-serious face field portrait session was these girls. Seriously, if I had to sum our time up in one word it would easily be laughter. Or joy. They have so much joy it just exudes out of them and is absolutely contagious. We laughed and laughed and talked about the challenges of spinning in fields. They even courageously overcame their fear of spiders in the field. Just a side note…there weren’t actually spiders in the field, they had simply gotten this idea in their head that there could in fact be a spider in the field and therefore, had to overcome their imaginary spider fear. Good times.
Our location was about 40 minutes north of West Palm Beach and honestly, it’s just a random field. I stalk things like random fields. Seriously it’s almost humorous. My husband is completely trained to pull the car over at a moment’s notice when I start yelling about a random field, wall, bench, reflection, etc. He’s a pro. 😉
These young ladies have smiles that just light up a room. Hope you think it’s as contagious as I did.
