There are so many different types of photography that I am in love with. I personally focus on lifestyle and editorial portraiture, which allows me to be a part of many amazing seasons in people’s lives. I feel like life is so much about relationships, and walking through life together. So being able to stand by people’s lives, as they walk through significant moments in their lives is not something I take for granted. In the midst of all of those moments weddings and love stories are mostly my favorite, but my second love is probably senior photography. There is something beautiful about the simple start of adulthood, sort of a series of little steps and something epic all squished together.
Kaleigh is a special girl for a number of reasons. She is kind, she is giving, she cares about others before she cares about herself. Kaleigh loves photography, she loves people, and she has a smile that will light up a room.
One of my favorite things about portrait photography is looking at the the different types beauty in people. I love seeing the different shapes of faces, hair color, eye color. The way that people are created so diversely and so beautifully, individually for who they are. I love trying to create portraits that showcase that individual beauty. But I have to say, I am a little partial to redheads.
Part of this I’m quite sure, is due to growing up around the Irish culture, where I was always the only non-redhead in the room and the only person not covered in freckles from head to toe. I would imagine this fostered in me the love for all things redhead and freckle covered. Once upon a time, I even tried dying my hair in an effort to emulate that beautiful red color. I found out quickly that when one does not know how to do things such as ‘dye your hair’, it should be left to the experts. Although purple was a nice color, it really didn’t look very good on my head. I’ve never had the guts to try again. 😉 Apparently I’ll say goodbye to my red-headed dream.
Ehem. Back to Kaleigh, the one thing that’s even better than just a redhead is a redhead that knows how to choose the right colors to showcase that amazing color. When you’re prepping for a portrait photography session making sure that you have the right outfit, and color combinations can really make or break a portrait in a lot of cases. When I saw how beautiful she looked in that amazing blue dress, I about had a fit.
Our location was near the Tuckahoe Mansion, in Jensen Beach, in the South Florida area. There is a beautiful old historic home on the property. I love history, and everything with a story. Especially when it plays into painting a picture of something very new and young…
To Kaleigh, you’re beautiful! To everyone else, enjoy.
