Those of you that know me are aware that I’m slightly obsessed with all things Christmas. This whole time of year is absolutely my favorite. Ever. Think, Buddy the Elf… that’s my level of excitement. I love the lights, the music, the cookies, the movies, the sparkle, the joy… sigh… pretty much the whole thing.
It’s. My. Favorite.
I am also a creative in the truest sense. I love so many of the fine arts. I am that person who will sit in a corner or wander through a fine art museum for hours on end and love every second of it, completely tormenting whomever I’ve bribed to accompany me on the excursion. 😉 So when I got a call from the Florida Arts and Dance Company about doing photography for their annual Nutcracker ballet, I was of course super thrilled. One, I absolutely believe in the arts of all kinds and want to support that any way I can. FADC is a non-profit dance company within the Stuart, Florida area (about 40 minutes north of West Palm Beach). They have been around a long time and do an amazing job working with kids in the community. Hard to find a reason not to back that up. Two, because I’m a little obsessed with dance.
Once upon a time, a looooong time ago I was a dancer and taught dance for a loooooong time. So You Think You Can Dance is my favorite show and I watch it obsessively. Think Netflix style binge watching. I will see the Miami City Ballet do multiple programs this year because it’s one of my favorite things ever and my husband is kind enough to take me to these things. I should probably apologize to him about the last museum trip… hmmm… either way.
It’s. My. Favorite.
Now to be fair, I have seen the Nutcracker about 7,000 times. You should know I could not edit these images without singing Tchaikovsky in my head. It was bad guys. The music would change as the images I was editing would change. Sigh. But in honor of Christmas, Buddy the Elf, how hard these young people worked and the love of fine art everywhere, I had to share just a glimpse.
Merry Christmas guys.
