I think images are even better when the person behind the images is amazing. I think you can see it in the image. Maybe it’s because I can see it in the image, but I’ve at least convinced myself it’s there. This south Florida high school senior is gorgeous inside and out. Obviously on the outside part, but trust me on the other, I promise you’d love her.
Thank goodness this darling girl is just so down to earth and kind to me because frankly, I’m not sure I could keep up with her cool factor. 😉 Have you seen her?? Ok. Seriously tho, what a ridiculously good time we had. First of all, the day we had her session scheduled, it was pouring rain. Seriously pouring rain. I think her mother thought I was absolutely crazy when I assured her that we were still good to go despite the rain. If nothing else it would be an adventure! 🙂
True story. The very first day I arrived in south Florida, I saw this location. We were walking by (with some other people) and I elbowed my husband and said, “um, if we move here, I’m shooting this.” 😉 It took me over a year to find that perfect person for this space. Small confession; it’s possible I way over think my locations? I feel like you can make a good portrait anywhere but if you’re going to go through the trouble of finding a great location you really want it to somehow click with your client, to represent who they are, to fit them.
So, here it is pouring rain, like, pouring rain. Once we were out there, I thought, hmmm, maybe I am actually crazy to think this was a good idea. 🙂 Thank goodness this child trusted me to get the images we were after! We get all set up, and then she just brings it. I kept joking with her about how she needs to be America’s next top model or something because she was working it brilliantly. She was so comfortable in front of the camera, which just opened up so many possibilities. When you combine a fabulous geometric location like that, a beautiful girl who radiates fun, and silly and kindness, and rocks her dress, it’s kind of hard to go wrong. I’ve decided this really wasn’t a senior photography session, this was a fashion senior photography session. Although I definitely shoot with a distinctly lifestyle photography edge to my images, and have even leaned heavily into a photojournalism at times, I’m not sure I’ve ever done such a high fashion photography session! But I’m completely in love with how these images turned out.
Most laughable moment of our time together? Although my beautiful girl here was a pro when it came to her session, and she was a good sport when I made her sit on top of a sign, walk through the rain in super high heels, and tromp around in rain boots, it turns out she might be slightly scared of glitter. It took all of my self-control not to post some of the failed glitter images. But lets just say, we laughed a lot getting the good ones made.
