I’m sure you may remember me, I am the one who is not going to get an award for fastest blogger of the year? Yes, let’s cement that right now. I mean, perhaps you felt that I might be turning over a new leaf. That was so kind of you, but to be clear, I’m not. Allow me to introduce you to the winner of our giveaway…
The what? Ya, I was concerned that’s what your response was going to be. Well, last fall I had a family portrait session giveaway. It was a lot of fun and it completely proved that; either I can’t make decisions (this very well may be the case) or I love what I do and nearly shed tears over pretty much every entry and the stories they shared. In the end, I chose three winners and not the ‘one’ I was planning on. Basically, I figured it was my contest so I felt totally justified in changing all the rules midstream. 🙂
This family had suggested the House of Refuge as our location. House of Refuge is on the Hutchinson Island and a well known spot in south Florida and the Treasure Coast for portrait photography and, of course, I loved the idea. I am such a beach person and any chance to be on the beach is ok with me. Plus, this session was really neat because this is a blended family with older kids. All of them are separate and doing their own thing but family portraits were really important for mom. I loved reading her story about all that her children were doing (one serving in the armed forces) and that they had a brief window (around the holidays) where everyone would be together. She just wanted to capture that moment. I was so happy to oblige! 🙂
There was nothing but laughter with these guys. It was constant heckling from brother to brother. Playing around with each other and non-stop laughter and jokes. I’m actually quite impressed no one got pushed into the ocean at any point in the session, although had they gone for it, I would have been quite happy to capture that moment as well.
Congratulations to the W family! I hope these images are something you treasure for years and years to come.
