Adjustments. It’s such an odd thing really. If you’d told me we were going to be living on the other coast a year ago, I would have laughed at you. I just couldn’t even begin to imagine all of the turn of events that have happened within this last year. But it really is an incredible thing to be in the hands of our Creator. I may not have seen the whole picture, but He did. I may not get the whole thing but He does. That is a privileged and beautiful place to be! There is so much peace in knowing God is for you.
So keeping that in mind, let’s return to our first word. Adjustments. There have been a few of them. Actually a whole lot of them. Let’s start with clothing. I have a box of winter clothing in my garage. Winter clothing. In my garage. In south Florida. Maybe it’s that I didn’t want to let go of my home? Or maybe it’s that, I just didn’t get it. Seriously, it never gets cold here. Never. It’s a hard concept to get, we came from snow, cold, four seasons. These people have never heard of cold. They think 65 is cold. It rains constantly here in summer, something else that’s new, although I love that part.
So everyone in my family adjusted a little differently. My husband (who hates snow, any one who knows him knows that is not an overstatement) has decided he was born and raised here in Florida. You can’t talk him out of it either. I nearly feel bad for the poor people who ask him how he’s ‘liking it’ or if he’s doing ok being here. 😉 I am in awe of the incredible beauty here, the new things to explore and see, the rain and all the green. So much green. Although I’ll confess I’m still a little worried about Christmas without snow, fall without scarves and boots and warm Pumpkin smelling drinks. Overall I love it though. My children have quickly become beach kids. You should see the tan lines. I mean seriously, you should SEE those tan lines. Even with the 70 spf sunscreen I make them wear (I am from California after all, we’re all for over protection)! They could live at the beach. And since we have some of the most incredible beaches around here, we do. More than you can cho0se from, crystal clear water and no waves (I wasn’t aware that existed?), how can you go wrong??
So on a personal note, California we miss you, Florida we’re loving you! Here are some fun HTC One camera phone images, of the adjustment in progress.
